Robotics in medicine has a huge potential and eventually the work in the area would lead to amayzing achievements, which would have been impossible without robots. One of the developing areas is the simulation of surgery, where successful developments would change the way surgeons train. Unfortunately there are still open questions; one of them is how to improve the haptic realism (which is simulation of force feedback)….
OrthoForce
OrthoForce is a haptic device which was developed by Edward Dibble at the Mechatronics in Medicine Lab at Imperial College London.
Here is me presenting the device :

Vibrotactile Feedback
Unfortunately surgeons who have tried the OrthoForce haptic device like the ergonomics but claim that it feels not realistic. My research is into the realism of the haptical simulator. (will add more later ;)
